Kemble Military Show 2009 Press Release
Stand to attention! There will be a large army gathering at Kemble airfield, near Cirencester on Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th and Monday 31st August 2009. It will be a major military coup – of the successful kind. Kemble Military Show is one of the largest in the UK and the newly scheduled Bank Holiday show will be packed with exhibits and special events for the whole family – all with a military theme.
So why not come and join in the fun? To mark the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings, breathtaking tank demonstrations will be taking place in the live arena together with authentically loud and dramatic re-enactments of battles. If that is not enough excitement for one day, look up and you will see the ever-popular display of historic military aircraft.
On the ground, more than 800 military and classic vehicles will be displayed – armoured vehicles, Jeeps, classic cars and motorcycles. Members of the Military Vehicle Trust (MVT), which will celebrate over 40 years of the trust at the Kemble Military Show 2009, own many of these vehicles.
If a slower pace of life sounds more favourable, the living history displays, huge militaria market and trade stands will have you engrossed for hours. What's more, a First World War field kitchen in operation along with demonstrations of wartime cooking will give a real feel for what wartime living was like. There will also be 1930s dancing in period costumes by Gloster Jive and Swing – whose founders, Gary and Sara Boon are the UK's Lindy Hop champions. Many army regiments and wartime veterans will be at the Kemble Military Show 2009 together with fantastic performances by several military bands.
John Keedwell, director of the Kemble Military Show, says: "Each year, we attract more military vehicles, including some of the rarest in the world. With the many other attractions for the whole family to enjoy, Kemble is definitely the best military show in the south-west."
